Some transformations change your body. Others change your entire life.
For Arthur Shadwick, his journey was about far more than losing weight—it was about reclaiming his health, rebuilding his confidence, and proving that no goal is too big to achieve. After losing more than 300 pounds through determination, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to becoming a better version of himself, Arthur has become an inspiration to thousands who are beginning their own transformation journey.
Today, Arthur continues to motivate others by showing that lasting change doesn't happen overnight—it happens one decision, one workout, and one day at a time. His story is a powerful reminder that your past does not define your future, and that the greatest transformation begins the moment you believe you're capable of more.
Welcome to Arthur's Transformation Club story.
1. Why did you start your transformation journey?
“I started my transformation journey when I became a father at 40 years old after my wife and I endured 16 years of infertility. When I first laid eyes on my daughter, I realized that if I didn’t make a change, I might not be alive to walk her down the aisle one day. That moment shifted everything for me. It wasn’t just about losing weight—it was about gaining life, health, and the ability to be present for my family. That decision ultimately became the foundation for MyPurposeFit and my mission to help others transform their lives.”
2. What was the hardest part at the beginning?
The hardest part at the beginning was mental and emotional. I had to confront years of neglecting my own health while prioritizing the needs of everyone else. As a pastor, husband, and new father, finding the balance to invest in myself without guilt was challenging. Physically, rebuilding strength and endurance required patience and consistency, but mentally, overcoming self-doubt and establishing new habits was the greatest hurdle.
3. Was there a moment you almost quit? What kept you going?
Yes, there were moments when the demands of ministry, family life, and the slow pace of progress made me question whether the journey was sustainable. What kept me going was my “why”—my daughter and the desire to be present for every milestone in her life. I also felt a deep sense of purpose, knowing that my transformation could inspire and help others who felt stuck. My faith, family, and vision for MyPurposeFit gave me the resilience to keep moving forward.
4. What has changed in you mentally or emotionally since you started?
Since beginning this journey, I’ve experienced a profound shift in confidence, discipline, and self-belief. Mentally, I’ve developed resilience and a growth mindset, understanding that consistency creates lasting change. Emotionally, I feel a deeper sense of alignment and peace, knowing that I am stewarding my health and living out my purpose. This transformation has strengthened my leadership as both a pastor and a coach, allowing me to lead others from a place of authenticity.

5. What are you most proud of right now in your journey?
While I’m grateful for competitive achievements, including winning first place in the Men’s 45+ Lifestyle Division at the Radical Body Transformations competition and earning the Overall Men’s Transformation Division title at the Summer Shredding Competition, what I’m most proud of is becoming a living example for my daughter and those I serve. Building MyPurposeFit and helping others transform their lives while aligning with their purpose is the most meaningful accomplishment of all.

6. What would you say to someone who is thinking about starting but feels scared or stuck?
I would tell them that transformation begins with a single decision. You don’t need to have everything figured out—you just need the courage to take the first step. Your “why” will carry you through the difficult moments. Progress is built through consistency, not perfection. If I could start my journey later in life and create lasting change, so can you. It’s never too late to invest in yourself and the people you love.
7. What keeps you committed on the hard days?
What keeps me committed on the hard days is my purpose and the promise I made to myself and my family. My daughter serves as a daily reminder of why this journey matters—I want to be present, healthy, and strong for every season of her life. My faith, disciplined routines, and the responsibility of leading others through MyPurposeFit reinforce my commitment to show up consistently, even when it’s challenging.

8. Finish this sentence
“Showing up for myself now means__________________”
“Honoring the gift of life I’ve been given, being present for my family, especially my daughter, and living in alignment with my purpose so I can inspire others to transform their lives.”
