Cassandra Bowen – 2026 WNBF Winnipeg New YOU Champion

Every transformation begins with a choice—the choice to believe that a healthier, stronger version of yourself is possible. For Cassandra Bown, that choice led to an incredible journey of growth, resilience, and self-discovery. Her dedication culminated at the 2026 WNBF Winnipeg Show, where she was crowned the New YOU Champion. We caught up with Cassandra to learn more about the mindset, determination, and life lessons behind her inspiring transformation.

1. Everyone's transformation begins with a story what inspired you to start your fitness journey, and what was your biggest motivation?

The day before my mom passed away in 2022, we had a final conversation over the phone, and during that call she kept saying, “You deserve the best” over and over again. As I sat with that final message I thought about what that could look like, and what a powerful and high set point it was to navigate your life with. For me that meant reclaiming who I was at my core, what I believed my purpose was and deciding to stop violating myself and allowing the ideas of others to govern my life and my identity.

2. Looking back, what was the biggest lesson you learned about yourself during your transformation?

That I’m wildly capable when I cultivate self-trust and trust my own compass as a guide for my life. I had a rough ride in childhood that left me questioning if I could do anything at all, but bodybuilding opened the door to healing and showed me that I could do anything I set my mind to. I’m forever grateful.

3. Was there a moment during your journey when you wanted to quit? If so, what kept you moving forward?

Transformation is no joke! I love the output like training, fueling my goals and every last bit of the process. The hardest part is dealing with uncertainty! At times I would ask myself, “Even if my output is excellent, am I too far gone to achieve my vision?” Having to navigate those thoughts is a challenge, but I always just reflect back to my why. That’s the most important thing.

4. Standing on stage alongside six other inspiring women, all with their own unique transformation stories, what was going through your mind as you waited to hear the results? And when your name was announced as the 2026 WNBF Winnipeg New YOU Champion, what emotions did you experience?

I went into it with the mindset that I just wanted to show someone what could be achieved in one year of intentional effort. My coach didn’t know, I decided 5 days out to do it, and just a lot of the circumstances weren’t great, but it was a beautiful day in the end and great to be around inspiring people from all walks of life with common goals! Everyone who steps on a stage is already a winner in my eyes, but for me specifically hearing my name and number was so much more than the result itself. It showed me that everything truly happens for a reason, and that at any point you can decide to create or do something great with the lessons you’ve lived through and learned in your life. A powerful concept to uncover and move forward with.

5. Winning the New YOU Category at the 2026 WNBF Winnipeg Show is an incredible achievement. What did that moment mean to you when your name was announced?

Bodybuilding found me at a time when I’d been freshly kicked out of school and it became one of the biggest joys and highlights of my life as a young girl. At some point I lost touch with believing I belonged in it, and had to overcome a lot of mental and physical health challenges to get back to having the strong mindset and the values that this lifestyle had built in me from the start.

6. How has your transformation changed the way you approach life outside of the gym?

It’s changed my approach by not allowing life to pass me by. I simply do what I want, chase purpose and the things that mean the most to me! It’s an incredible contrast to the days I was afraid to leave my room, answer the phone or the door. I live with so much less inhibition and I’m proud to see how far I’ve come.

7. If someone reading your story feels like they're "not ready" to start their own transformation, what would you say to encourage them?

I would say that you deserve the best, too! Never be afraid to challenge, “what if…” and stay in pursuit of the things that matter to you! At the start of my journey I thought, “I just know, there is someone out there who is navigating the darkness I was… feeling misunderstood with maybe no one else in the world that believes in them. I just want that person to know genuinely and deeply I believe in you… and if this message finds you, I hope that you can see that whatever idea or dream it is that you’re carrying with you in your heart, even despite everything you’ve been through, you can still do it. It’s 1 million percent worth never giving up on because when you finally get to the other side, and can look back on everything you overcame, it’s a win that cultivates pride, confidence, and trust in yourself that no one can ever take from you. You will carry that with you into new opportunities, and situations for a lifetime.
