I would like you to meet Linda Lam. Linda has traveled from Hong Kong to compete in the 2025 World Natural Bodybuilding Federation Canada (WNBF Canada) in Vancouver.
Linda is a true testament that even with a body abnormality, you can still achieve your fitness goals. Linda' situation did not stop her from competing 2 categories and finishing well! Please enjoy her story and believe that YOU can achieve your goals.
How was your experience stepping on stage in the WNBF New YOU category?
I am excited to be part of The NEW YOU competition, an opportunity that is not available at the WNBF Hong Kong Competition. Being in Vancouver for this opportunity feels absolutely amazing! I believe that the process of breaking through our own limits and navigating real struggles can often spark the inner strength in others like nothing else. This event not only gives me a chance to demonstrate my personal but also serves as a platform to encourage others to inspire and motivate others on their own journeys.
With knowing that you had scoliosis, was there any fear of doing certain physical exercises? Or was it just a matter of adaptation?
At first, I was a little concerned that weight training might worsen my curved spine. However, over time, I realized that my spinal condition hasn’t really changed much at all. This shows that weight-bearing exercises don’t negatively affect the spine. In fact, the muscle I’ve built actually offers better support for my spine, and the pain I used to experience from scoliosis has gradually faded. I do have to pay extra attention to the details during my workouts because of the asymmetry in my body. Unlike most people, I face challenges like uneven hips and lats, a right shoulder that tilts forward, and a bulging scapula—all common traits of scoliosis.
What is your message for someone who may have an abnormality and considering doing fitness exercises?
Don’t let physical limitations hold you back! With the appropriate guidance from a doctor or trained professionals, you can train safely and effectively.
You stepped on stage having a great physique. How long did it take you to develop this physique, and what was your diet?
In May 2024, I made the decision to compete in the WNBF Vancouver 2025. I dedicated over 300 days to preparing for this event, starting with muscle-building during the “initial gain phase.” After that, I transitioned into the “cutting phase,” where I focused on shedding fat, and finally, I made those last-minute adjustments in the final four weeks. When it came to my diet, I made sure to evenly distribute my protein intake across all my meals, keeping it at a sufficient level while strictly monitoring my calorie consumption.
You competed in Novice Bikini and Masters Bikini and took home 2nd and 4th place, respectively. What was your inspiration in competing in the 2025 WNBF VANCOUVER Show?
Confidence on stage is absolutely essential. As someone living with scoliosis, I never imagined I could compete in WNBF bikini classes. But I refuse to let my physical limitations define me. Instead, I strive to excel and become a living testament to the miracles God has worked in my life. While I didn’t win the championship this time, I see it as a blessing in disguise. It gives me the opportunity to return to the stage and share my extraordinary journey with others. I hope my story inspires others to face their challenges in life with courage and determination.
What is your go to exercise at the gym, and how long were your gym workouts?
My typical workout routine lasts around 90 minutes or less. I focus on full-body training five days a week to build muscle mass and strength. Additionally, I incorporate the stair master into my regimen two to three times a week to help shed some fat.
