Krysta Rizzotti - 2024 WNBF Kelowna New YOU Transformation Winner

Krysta' story is one of determination. She was tired of her weight and had tried many quick fix diet fads until she realized that teaming up with a coach at DEEM Health & Fitness, and working on a long-term diet was the healthiest and proper way to go.  She has lost tremendous weight and was able to showcase it on stage for the first time and her efforts paid off as she was the Winner of the 2024 WNBF Kelowna New YOU Transformation category.

Enjoy her story. :)

KRYSTA’S JOURNEY TO THE NEW ME

My entire life I have been “the fat girl” amongst every group of friends. From a young girl until the day I decided I was finally DONE. I was done being fat. I was done being slow. I was done feeling like I didn’t want to do anything active. I have tried numerous diets, almost too many to count. They worked short term, and I would regain the weight plus more. I avoided photos of myself unless it was shoulders up. I was nearly diabetic, tired all the time and didn’t have any energy for my now 11-year-old daughter. With every pound, I was taking years off my life.
I went on vacation in 2022 where my fiancé and I went horseback riding and after seeing the photos, well, I had my breaking point. I even felt bad for the horse! I had stopped caring about what I put in my body, and I had hit 228lb.
My heaviest was in January 2023, at 243lb and for my height was a big problem. I decided no more short-term solutions, I was going to change my life for good. As I started to cut back on my portions and eliminated the obvious foods out of my diet, the fat started to melt away. I was starting to get my energy back. In May 2023 I met Mikkie. She was opening a training center in Vernon and once she told me about what she offered, I jumped on the chance to join! She helped me fine tune my diet; she also made me love working out! She talked about people she had trained to compete and when I heard she had a group that she was putting together for the June 2024 competition I was in! Everyday has been hard work and there’s days when I wanted to quit but I knew that wasn’t an option.
Kicking the sugar addiction was the hardest part, but I learned to reach for healthy alternatives instead. Getting to the gym every day with my busy household and work schedule has had some major challenges but I did it and was even able to plan a wedding amongst it all!
At my heaviest I was 243lbs, size 16 pants, size 2XL shirts but now, I am 158lbs, size 6 pants and small/medium shirts. The biggest success of all is having my life back!
One of the greatest parts of my journey has been the impact I’ve had on many people in my life. My positive attitude about this lifestyle has encouraged my fiancé, his business partner, and her husband to have a regular workout schedule and nutrition program. Even my brother and sister-in-law have started working with Mikkie and are having great success.
When you’re overweight, it affects EVERY SINGLE aspect of your life and this lifestyle change has helped strengthen all of my relationships. Now I’m ready for my wedding in Las Vegas ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!
