After learning that she was diagnosed with skin cancer, Madison took it upon herself to improve her health. In just 6 months, she was able to lower her weight all while still eating what she wanted to within her calories and stepped on stage for the first time.
I didn’t know this existed until I talked with my coach and she showed me some guidance on where to go from here. I started with her 6 months before walking on stage and it was a goal for me since then. last year I was diagnosed with skin cancer and this was a huge shock for me as this was something terrifying to me. Going through the process of treatment cancer left scars from procedures done that permanently changed my body and made it feel like it wasn’t my own anymore. Watching my nutrition and workout was something I could control; I wanted to do better for myself, and this was how this crazy journey began. It is never to late!!! I say go for it no matter what your age is! For me finding a trainer was hard and easy at the same time. So the easiest part about it was I reached out to a group on Facebook inquiring about it and I got many recommendations from many people on who to look into. The hard part was figuring out who was going to work best for me. This was about a month-long process all on its own because I wanted to give each trainer the same opportunity I met with each one and then picked based on who was going to work with me the best. Currently, I am doing training 4 days a week with cardio added in as well. We are using a 2-day upper body and 2-day lower body rotation at the moment. These exercises include chest presses, squats, lunges lateral raises and so so much more. When first starting the calories were on the higher side and they slowly got less and less. With the slow decline, it allowed me to adjust my diet to the new meal plan. Because of this, I didn’t think the meal plan was that restricted since I still made what I wanted to eat fit into my calories. This allowed me to still enjoy having a burger or pizza. Losing weight and being in a calorie deficit does not need to just be chicken and rice! Make food that is good to you that is what is gonna make sure you have continued success.
